  Why would God stop man from building a tower that reached into the "heavens" and yet let modern man reach even further with a space station and moon landings?

  I think it is very important to listen to your body. You are having physical symptoms b/c of this. Don't underestimate the dis-ease to your body because of doing something you don't agree with.

  We could not fade. Too slow and drawn out. I like that analogy above about the cold pool. Everyone is different but you have to decide if the psycho/physiologic cost of fading is worth it.

  sorry if this starts off as a kind of a downer.. i am 29, and my husband and i have stopped going to meetings since last october.

  we live in mexico and used to attend the english.

  long story short, after realizing how many much we've been lied to we stopped going to our meetings, moved out of the territory, switched to spanish, and after a month of attending just vanished.

  Don't worry about your negative feelings. You're among the right people here. They have lots of wisdom to help us get through the various phases of leaving the religion. You will be fine.

  matthew 5:44 "but i say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,.

  luke 6:35 "but love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return.

  the most radical teaching attributed to jesus has implications if followed.. an invading hoarde of mongols would not be resisted.. a christian husband would not only allow his wife and daughters to be raped; he would be compelled to forgive the rapist, pray for him and offer.

  Some Tutsis say they have "forgiven" the Hutus who murdered their loved ones. I cannot help but sense the fear they have for these murderers. I think it is easier to forgive than confront the fear they have for these people.

  Some parents have chosen to "forgive" the murderer of their child. I think it is extremely difficult to confront the hatred that would naturally occur after such a loss.

  Sometimes rape victims choose to "forgive" their attacker. Perhaps they choose to forgive because dealing with the anger that naturally follows is too much for them to bear.

  In instances like these the victim says, "it is the right thing to do" and that they heal by reaching out to these criminals. I don't buy it. That is a completely unnatural response. I don't think an emotionally healthy individual would even contemplate it.

  It is best in most situations not to react to violence with violence. To take that even further and totally "forgive" the perpetrator of heinous crime requires an extraordinary amount of self-effacement.

  I don't see the compatibility in Jesus commandment to love yourself and love your enemies.

  baby girl, 6 lbs, 14 oz, 19-3/4in, looks like me they say.... still in awe... there were some complications, but mom and baby are doing good.

  baby's down the hall in nicu and it still doesn't feel real.. .

  I always hated when some loud mouth blurted in public that they were one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I always took it so personally and would cringe. I don't think the Society cares b/c to most people it means they should be acting better than they are........

  "( of course most jws would say these were not really jws"

  You're right on this. When the "witness" given is impressive they quickly claim them. But when it's less than stellar they say the person is "bringing reproach on Jehovah and the congregation"
